Last year after the festival live concert, we had a chance to chat with parents and students who participated and asked them why they join the competition.
Some of their comments are quite surprising. Let me share with you.
1. “My child suddenly gets serious once I register him”
A mom shared that she used to nag at her child for practicing, as her child just practice until it's 'good enough', and move on to play other pieces. Seldom there's a piece that's played well. But when she register him for the competition, she gets serious to perfecting a piece!
2. "Tired of exam pieces"
An adult told me he's been playing exam pieces for 6-7 months and quite tired of them. But he always wanted to perform a classical piece he likes! And that festival gives him a chance to practice and perform it.
3. “Already preparing for exams”
A parent told me her child is already preparing for exams. So the festival is like a ‘rehearsal’ for the exam performance. Good idea!
4. "I finally can see my child perform!"
A father told me because he's busy at work, he seldom see the child perform any proper pieces at home, even though the child has been learning for 3 years. So that festival finally gives him a chance to see his child perform!
5. "She will either win prizes, or win experience"
A parent also shared deeply with me that if her child win anything, it's a bonus. If not, she will still gain valuable performance experience! That's a very encouraging mindset :)
I love to hear what parents and students' feedback and these reasons motivate me to organise the festival again this year.
