Subject: Funny feedback about 2022 Festival 😂

Hello!

Mark here from The Happy Pianist!

Today, I wanna share something funny about last year Happy Music Festival 2022.

If you want to know more about 2023 Festival, you can click here for more details.

Last year Sept 2022, we have our grand finals live.

Every finalist, piano or violin, will perform live in front of the audience, with results and prize presentation all done on same day. (We are doing the same for the Final Round this year too)

After the finals, I chatted with parents and teachers what they like about the festival, and why they join.

I receive lots of feedback, but here's the memorable (or funny) ones.

1. "He suddenly becomes motivated, and I don't need to nag him to practice!"

A parent shared that his boy loves piano, but not easy to get him be serious in playing. She needs to nag at him to play and practice properly.

But when she told his boy he will be joining a competition, the boy starts to get serious. When he found out he would be competing in the finals, he become even more motivated and practice everyday. He would ask his teacher more questions on perfecting his competition piece!

After our finals, this parent sign up his child for 2 more competitions.

2. "This competition has boosted her confidence and self-esteem"

I chat with a family who drove 3 hours from Muar, Johor to our finals in Singapore. Piano Classical Junior category.

The dad shared that her daughter lacks confidence in herself. Although she plays the piano quite well (with distinctions n exams), she shy to perform in front of people, and always feels her playing is not good enough.

But after the performing in the finals last year in front of 120+ persons, her daughter feels much more confident, and also inspired by other kids her age group too.

The 3-hour drive, though is tiring, but it's worth it!

3. "Unsure if my son is really at 'distinction' level"

A father told me his son scored distinctions for ABRSM exam for Grade 2, 3 and 5 in 2 years, but all of them are recorded online exam.

Although he's happy with the scores, but he's unsure if his son is really at 'distinction' level, because his exams is done through multiple recordings.

He wants his son to experience the feeling of "walking into a hall to perform live, and knowing there is only one chance for him"

He even told me this...

"We all know Usain Bolt is the undisputed fastest runner in the world, because he race with his competitors live and won the Olympics Gold. He doesn't run 100m at home, record his own timing and then submit the timings to be called World's Fastest Man"

Ok.. that's quite funny. ðŸ¤£ðŸ¤£

Our festival is not at Olympics level, but I get what he mean.

Running The Happy Music Festival since 2020, I always love to hear feedback from parents, teachers and students.

And this is what keep us going to make the festival better for everyone each year.

This year we are going all live, Semi-Finals Live Audition, and Grand Finals Live with Audience.

Hopefully can see you live in person too!

By the way, about 2 more weeks to go before the early bird registration ends. :)
