My Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I am writing to ask each of you to seriously consider what I am requesting.
I know that we all have differing opinions about how to conduct ourselves in these times of the Covid virus. Some of us may not even believe that the virus is real. Truthfully, I do not care about any opinions; I only care that we are respecting the safe and sacred space that CHLQ is creating so that we have the incredible privilege to gather in the forest and drink our sacrament while singing our blessed hymns.
If any of us have been in groups of more than 10 people, inside without masks, without social distancing, and have not been observing the basic precautions, I ask that you think about whether you may be a carrier and then examine whether you should attend the ceremony on Saturday.
We, the board and members of CHLQ, are doing as best we can to continue our works in person.
We are fortunate to be able to gather outside in the terreiro and for that to continue we all have to be truthful with ourselves and with each other. The challenge is to put the welfare of our brothers and sisters above our individual desires.
Please consider this, make your examination, and let us know if your activities might mean that you will not be able to attend the July 25 celebration of Mary Magdalena. Understand that I am not asking you to make a decision out of fear but from your own understanding of your own choices and activities.
Love,
Jane
