Time to Help a Fardada in Need
Our beloved sister and Fardada, Charlene “Queenie” Johnson, is a therapist who lives and works in Laurel MD. Queenie is a committed, wise, loving and giving person who works hard to improve the lives of those she encounters. She is a force for change and empowerment and generously gives of herself to help those in need.
Queenie developed a painful hip and spine condition five years ago that has limited her mobility and significantly impacts her quality of life – her courage and compassion in the face of pain and physical challenges are a true inspiration. We have been working towards her being able to get a double hip replacement early in 2023, and this has been further complicated by a broken ankle that required surgery on December 7th, such that she is now in the hospital and needing rehab.
During this season of giving, we have an opportunity to come to the aid of our sister who so often puts the needs of others before her own.
We are raising funds for her portion of the current hospitalization, the future hip surgery and rehab services, and for temporary housing for the immediate weeks following her rehabilitation.
We have a team of volunteers helping her and who will be with her when she is discharged from rehab, but it may be some time before she can return to her home. Our intention is to be able to make sure that she has all the amenities and help that she needs to make a full recovery.
We aim to raise $25,000 - $30,000 to cover copays, living expenses, physical therapy and other health care needs. Your generous donations are encouraged and impactful. In faith and trust, our combined efforts can lead to big results. Let’s give Queenie a new life, free of pain.
Donations made through CHLQ will be tax deductible. You can make contributions through Paypal at CHLQcomm@gmail.com, or by check mailed to CHLQ (POB 911, Ashland, OR 97520) and, if you also send us your name and mailing address, you will receive a letter from the church noting your donation for your tax return.
Please note “MAF – Q” on the donation so that we know who it is intended for. Also, we need your name and mailing address at the time of donation so that we can send you the letter.
Prayers for her healing are received with deep gratitude. Watch for email updates as we hold Queenie and her medical team in Light and Love, creating the best possible outcome.
