Greetings of peace.
The Forest Medicine Center is launching this campaign and I am sharing
it with you. The proposal is to support in some way, be it with a small
donation or a larger donation, or even publicizing, sending to people
who might be interested in helping this so beautiful cause. This cause
is basically to prevent the exodus of the youth born within the Amazon
forest, providing professionalization and reconnection with the
knowledge of their ancestors. This is a cause that contributes to the
preservation of the Amazon forest, its native peoples and its culture.
You can help through the campaign or by making direct contact and
finding other ways to contribute. Welcome.

You Are Light in the Darkness: Embodying Compassion, Faith and Forgiveness

We
are taught by all the true spiritual teachers from every line and every
culture that the Divine is inside of us. We are counseled to cease our
endless, fruitless and ultimately hopeless looking and questing outside
of ourselves for what they know and teach us is waiting for our
attention in the inner dimensions of our own being. In fact, the
qualities we associate with authentic spirituality—calmness in the face
of turmoil, compassion in the face of suffering, faith in the face of
fear and forgiveness in the face of condemnation, judgment and
vengeance—are indeed inside us. They each have their assigned place in
your your energy vehicle—your bodies—and more specifically in your
heart. In this class you will be given a new and authentic view of your
self—your bodies, your inner landscape, your inner being. You will then
be guided to discover these spiritual qualities inside yourself and how
to access and make use of them. Making these spiritual qualities into
practical ones and helping you to take the next steps on your own path
of transformation, healing, illumination and empowerment.

| | | A Daime Teaching from Padrinho Jonathan
"Some of us get
confused about the nature of what we are doing here in our association
with the Daime, with taking a substance into our bodies. It is a
confusion that comes from our associations with other contexts. We get
confused about things like “ethnobotany”. We read a book that says the
concoction/decoction known most commonly as ayahuasca is a common plant
hallucinogen in the Amazon basin of South America and we get confused.
Padrinho Valdete has a hymn that says “Men with their science seek to
confuse me, but I believe in my Jesus because Jesus is the one who can
save me.” We get confused sometimes about the nature of what we are
doing and we associate the Daime with other things that may in other
contexts be placed in a similar category. We say “Well, okay, over here
I went to take mushrooms and then I went over there and I smoked some
DMT and then many years ago I took some LSD and I went over there and
someone gave me some Peyote”. The Daime is relegated to a powerful
experience along with some others. And we don’t remember that in the
Daime we are dealing with a gateway to association with Divine beings. Just
like a body can be born into various families, a body can be born into
various countries, a body can be born into various races, genders, that
body that is composed of that vine and that leaf, along with water and
fire, surrounded by metal and air, that body comes into a context, comes
into a family and then there is a Being who comes to inhabit that body.
At the moment that the Daime is completed in the Feitio, at the moment
that the Daime Maker (feitor) takes his stick and hits the pot three
times for the Sun, Moon and Stars, a particular Being comes to inhabit
that tea body. When a body made up of those same components is called to
come into another context, into another family, into the family of
ayahuasca, it is another being that comes to inhabit that body. It is
the same as when you were on the other side and decided to be born into
the family you were born into. You chose to come into the body you now
inhabit and now that being who is here in your body is waking up to its
nature by joining its body with that of the divine being of the Daime.
Your body could have been born somewhere else and another being could
have inhabited it, but it was you who inhabited it. In that same way the
Daime is the particular being that comes to inhabit this body made as a
tea in the ritual of the Feitio. Padrinho
Alfredo’s hymn reminds us that, “It is the Divine Eternal Father and
the Sovereign Queen, it is the Professor of Professors, the Teacher of
Teachers, the Master of All Teachings”. As Padrinho Alfredo said in a
conversation in our den with Rabbi David Zazlow, “For me the Daime is
the Universal Christ.” It is the Light of the Universal Divine Essence
and it can come anywhere into any place because it is the Universal
Christ. It deigns to inhabit a tea so that the humans seeking to know
themselves can wake up to their true nature. So we are not just drinking
a powerful tea and we have nothing to do with plant hallucinogens. That
is a designation that is so narrow and so paltry compared to what we
are making contact with. So let's remember this as we go to drink our
Daime: we are entering into contact with the Divine Essence which can
lead us then into contact with our guides, whoever our guides are,
whatever spiritual line we inhabit in this life. The Daime is not here
to make divisions, the Daime is here to make union inside us and among
us: to show the universality of Light, the universality of Forgiveness,
the universality of living together in the heart. The Daime comes into a
ritual space because ritual is necessary for us to be able to relax and
let go and access that direct connection. But a form is just a form. We
have our form as passed down to us. We follow it to honor and link
ourselves with the protection of our roots and because it works. The
important thing is the contact with that Universal Power. That is what
the form is meant to facilitate. So let's drink our Daime, each one of
us in the place of our prayer and the place of that deep human need
underneath all human needs to remember who we are and to make contact
with our Divine Nature. Amen"
