Dear Ones,
At our recent work on January 8 for King’s Day, about a quarter of the people present came down with Covid. Thankfully, no one became so ill as to be hospitalized, and the range of severity short of that was wide. Most people had very mild symptoms, although a couple of people were quite ill for some days. It was requested that everyone coming to the work do a test on that day. Assuming that was the case, and that everyone performed the test correctly (not necessarily the case), we are faced with a mystery as to how the virus evaded someone’s test, as well as how random it was as to who got infected.
In any case, this was the first work in the 18 months we’ve been holding them during this time that anyone has gotten demonstrably ill from attending a work at CHLQ. And due to our commitment to make sure that everyone attending our works be as safe as possible, we have cancelled works until it is clear that the present wave of the virus has substantially subsided. We expect that will be by the end of February. As we have done from the beginning of this time, we are examining the changing evidence through the lens of grounded faith.
We have also delayed the work in honor of José Rosa to coincide with the day of Saint Joseph on March 20.
In the meantime, our plan is to distribute Daime to those in our circle who are both initiates in the Daime path and who are current in their tithing to the church. If you meet that criteria and wish to have some Daime for your use in doing ceremonies in your home, please tell Sonia by emailing chlqcomm@gmail.com by midnight on Saturday, January 29.
Light,
Jonathan
