Subject: ☀️🌙🌟 CHLQ: Full Moon Work Registration Is Open

Registration for the 2022 Full Moon Work is Open!

Church of the Holy Light of the Queen

Register by August 8th

This work will be held in a forest clearing where we can sit out under the stars and watch the moonrise, while singing hymns for the forest and the moon.

This work is a fundraiser; please see the notice below for details. All proceeds will go to support Jonathan's upcoming trip to our partners in Brasil.

As we’ll be singing out in the forest, you will need a light to see your book.  We recommend individual clip-on book lights.  A small flashlight can also work but it's not as easy as the book light.  Headlamps are not recommended as you can blind your neighbors when you look up.  If you bring an old book light, remember to check the batteries.

Date: Friday, August 12th

Time: 7pm arrival

Location: Outdoors at location TBA near Gold Hill

Hinarios: A new Full Moon hinario will be available for purchase for $15.

Farda: White Clothes

Deadline to Register: Monday, August 8th by Midnight

*Proof of a negative Covid test result the day of the work is still required.

*If you do not wish to purchase the new Full Moon hinario, we will send out a list of the hymns that are drawn from many different hinarios.

Support Our Mission In Brasil

CHLQ has a long history of excellent working relationships with our Brazilian partners.  These relationships are based on mutual benefit, respect, and trust and require personal attention to grow and thrive.

We have all been blessed through the years with incredible Daime and the knowledge and wisdom gained by Jane and Jonathan from their time spent in Brasil.  We’ve been able to help with countless projects in various Daime communities all over Brasil.

With little travel possible the last couple of years, Jonathan has determined that now is the time to go to Brasil and visit some of our partners and continue to foster these relationships.  He will also have the opportunity to return with a lot of Daime for our works.

Thus, we are raising money to offset the considerable costs of traveling to and within Brasil to support the mission.  Trips like this lay the groundwork for our future Daime security and are critical for the long term sustainability of the Church.

Please send Jonathan lots of light, love and prayers as he travels on our behalf from August 3-19.

Please also make a monetary contribution as you are able to support this trip and the mission of CHLQ.

Examples of just a few of the many projects through the years that your donations, and Jane and Jonathan’s efforts, have made possible include:

  • Estrela Brilhante in Maranhão: Here we helped finance building the Feitio House, which is the facility where Daime is made.

  • Flor Da Montanha in Lumiar:  prior to our help, the people in Lumiar were making Daime in old aluminum pots. We were able to give them massive, 100L stainless steel pots for safe Daime production, pots that may be in use for generations.

  • Céú da Montanha Visconde de Mauá: in fulfillment of our promise to Jose Rosa, who led this community and said ‘take care of my people’, we have done self-sustainability agrictultural projects for the people of Maua every year, helping them to both grow their own food, and to cultivate Daime.

  • Céu do Mapiá:  This is where many who made the journey with Pd. Sebastiao to establish Céu do Mapiá deep in the Amazon jungle - the companheiros of Pd. Sebastião and Md. Rita - still live today. All of them are now elders and we have been supporting them in various ways. Thanks to donations through the years to CHLQ, we have also been able to help maintain Santa Casa (‘holy house’), which provides local health care right there for those who need it.

These partnerships respect and honor those who sustain the Daime in its homeland.  They also  maintain the relationships which are the main reason we have the gift of the Daime.

Your support for this trip is what continues to make the CHLQ mission possible today, more than 25 years after its founding. Please help as you are able, and blessings to you always.

Covid News for Works

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The Covid pandemic continues and is surging significantly in our county. The behavior of most people has changed with the dropping of restrictions even though the current virus strain is more contagious than the previous ones. People can be contagious before symptoms appear and before a rapid test would detect the virus.

What this means is that there is a significant risk of getting Covid from attending a work now, as outbreaks in our community after several recent works have shown. This is true even with everyone still being required to test negative before attending, and even with an outdoor work.

Please consider carefully whether this risk is something you choose to take, given your state of health and risk factors, and please listen to your intuition. Everyone is still required to test negative for Covid the day of the work. It is very important to not attend if you have even slightly suspicious symptoms or a known exposure.

In this difficult time, it is important to remember the immense blessing of the Santo Daime and that we are here for each other. May the light guide you on your path.
