Santo Daime Legal Council Background:
The Santo Daime Legal Council was formed in 2008 upon prevailing in the Federal Court for the right to practice our religion legally.
The initial council body was an extension of the original legal team. The current Santo Daime Legal Council is composed of six members.
There are two representatives from CHLQ (Ashland), two representatives from CDR (Portland), one representative from Los Angeles, and one representative from Massachusetts.
The council’s mission is to safeguard our legal right to practice by:
a. Maintaining legal representation for our organization
b. Fostering continued good relations with the DEA,
c. Overseeing and maintaining the expansion of our organization under the clear umbrella or our legal protection and spiritual lineage
d. Maintaining clear communication and cohesion so we may be a healthy institution.
We feel it is time to make our organization more broadly cohesive among our affiliates so that we can all work together in clarity with an understood shared mission.
Affiliates will need to be aligned with this shared mission, contributing financially and energetically to the legal movement and the evolution of our organization.
A structure with clear criteria for membership has now been created for better transparency and understanding for what kind of group fits within our mission.
We have worked over many years to coalesce a base from which to build our organization and we invite those who resonate to see what we may become.
Hope to see you soon,
The Santo Daime Legal Council
