Wyeast Price Increase, New Dry Yeast Strains, More Imperial Yeasts
IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR BREWERS |
We want you to know about: |
| | | We just learned last week that Wyeast has increased their prices across their whole Smackpack lineup for homebrewers. It was quite a shock to us. After more than 10 years of keeping their prices stable, even through COVID, they have roughly doubled the cost of each pack. The price increase is now in effect. This is a sad thing at our shop because we really love the Wyeast product line and worry that this may deter homebrewers from one of their best quality options. | | Our Response - Increasing Choices | | Over the last week we discussed options and today we want to update you with some of the ways we are responding to give you more options of brewers yeast: We will continue to stock Wyeast, albeit at somewhat lower stock levels. We checked in with Imperial Yeast, they have no current plans to raise prices. We will increase our stock levels from Imperial Yeast. We are launching many new dry beer yeast strains. Dry yeast is always cheaper than liquid yeast. Most beer kits will be switched over to the matching yeast strain from Imperial Yeast. Our beer kits will all continue to use liquid yeast in order to ensure the highest level of sanitation and quality.
