Lacey's Winning Beer:

Kolsch brewed as Kettle Sour with Strawberries

Judge Comments:

"The aroma and flavor of strawberry was very pleasant, and in combination with the Sour Pitch it created a refreshingly tart beer without being overly sour."

---Jane Jackson

Judge Comments:

"The acid balance on this kettle sour was perfect. The strawberry was expressive, and there was nothing to detract from a very enjoyable drinking experience. Way to go, Lacey."

---Gabe Jackson

Give it up for Lacey! And Happy Birthday, too!

Lacy has been brewing for only about one year at home in Santa Rosa. She has now brewed about 7 beers in that time.

She got started homebrewing when she and her husband made a tart cherry mead together for their anniversary. After that, they branched out together, as a brewing team, into brewing beer.

Her favorite types of beer to brew and to drink are fruited kettle sours. She gets inspiration from trying to make beer that she will like to drink herself. She loved Cooperage's Fruitception so much that it was one of the main reasons she started making sours.

This is the first time she has won a homebrewing competition.

As it turns out, TODAY, February 5th, is Lacey's birthday. We hope she feels like a winner today!

She says that she loves the Kolsch kit because it is such a blank slate to play with. "While making this beer it was really helpful to measure the titratable acid level to know how tart this beer was going to be." She has also added, "I want to thank Joe and Gabe because without all the helpful information during my many shopping appointments, my beer would be very bland. I would like to one day make brewing beer more than just a hobby."

Note to our commercial brewing customers - we could connect you with Lacey :)
