Ekuanot, Citra, El Dorado, Centennial, Amarillo, Columbus CTZ | | As part of our Hop Freshness Program, this email is intended to alert you when the new crop of each type of hop arrives at our warehouse. Today, we are announcing the recent arrival of the following 2021 hop crops!
Aromas of tropical fruit, citrus, apple/pear, and melon. | | This is the first arrival of Ekuanot at our Fermenter's Warehouse, though it has been often requested by our customers. This hop was commercially released in 2014 under the name Equinox, but the name was later changed due to a trademark issue. You may expect aromas of tropical fruit such as papaya and guava, citrus such as lime and grapefruit, apples and pears, melon, berries. Its high oil content (favoring myrcene and humulene in particular) makes it a good candidate for late, whirlpool, or dry hop additions. |
Aromas of citrus and tropical fruit. | | With aromas of mango, papaya, and pineapple, Citra has become one of the most used and desired hops in the craft beer industry. You may know it from beers such as Sierra Nevada's Torpedo IPA, Henhouse's Stoked! on Citra, Three Floyds Zombie Dust, Knee Deep Simtra, or hundreds of other hoppy beers on the market today.
Aromas of tropical fruit, citrus and stone fruit. | | El Dorado® was developed by CLS Farms, LLC in 2008 and released in 2010. It has become beloved for its exceptional, candied tropical fruit character with elements of pineapple, stone fruit, lime/citrus and even melon. Its aromatic oil content is extremely high providing a lot of bang for its buck.
Aromas of citrus, flowers and spices. | | Centennial has the aromas of flowers and citrus, especially grapefruit. This is one of the American classic three C's, along with Cascade and Columbus (CTZ). Centennial is often known as super Cascade. It can be found in some of the most famous beers in the country such as Pliny the Elder and Bell's Two Hearted Ale.
Aromas of citrus, flowers and tropical fruit. | | Amarillo has aromas of citrus, especially orange, flowers and tropical fruit. It has been brought to market in beers such as Knee Deep Hoparillo Triple IPA, Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA, Hangar 24 Amarillo Pale Ale. It has high aromatic oil content, and moderate bittering potential with relatively low cohumulone content, making it appropriate for bittering as well as aromatic uses.
Aromas of herbs, citrus, and onion/garlic. | | Columbus, also known a CTZ (Columbus, Tomahawk, Zeus), is known for its dank, resin, pine, and citrus character. CTZ is high on the bittering scale and yet it is mainly valued for its oil content which contributes an interesting dichotomy of sharp, herbal and citrus notes. |
