It’s
Not Over Because You Think It’s Over
For
over twenty years, the Tennessee Firearms Association has been at the “tip of
the spear” in advocating for full acceptance of the 2nd Amendment in
Tennessee and adherence to the Tennessee Constitution’s provisions regarding
firearms ownership.
We
have advanced legislation under Democrat-controlled and Republican-controlled
legislatures. Despite numerous setbacks, we are diligently working toward our greatest
achievement – Constitutional Carry.
However,
it appears that some firearms-freedom advocates have fallen prey to the belief
that the election of Donald J. Trump as President has somehow stalled the
efforts of gun-control advocates. This is a false narrative that we see being
worked out in the enthusiasm across the state as we kick off our meetings prior
to the 2017 General Assembly Session.
Trump’s
election is not the signal to “take a breather” or to “sign off” somehow. It is
exactly the opposite. Trump’s election is a reversal of national focus. The
enemy is on the run! Now is the time to gather ourselves and finish them off!
Significant meeting attendance can present a strong message to elected officials in Tennessee
who need our help and encourages them and others to stand firm even if leadership is telling them that Tennessee is already a great state for gun owners.
TFA
is anxious to support the local efforts of our members to gather each month and
exchange information vital to our ongoing agenda. Many of our chapters have
dedicated Leaders who are downright evangelistic about our issues. If you have
that spark of desire to assist your “brothers-in-arms” across the state, TFA is
ready to support your efforts and to open new chapters and increase the attendance of existing chapters. But we have to have local leaders to accomplish this goal.
Our
struggle is not over. There will always be those who seek to deny our ability
to defend ourselves. We cannot rest. We cannot cede one inch of hard-won
ground. We must press the campaign until we have achieved our objective.
Reach
out to John Harris or Richard Archie or Jeff Hartline regarding your interest.
We need your involvement, but our efforts must be focused on moving the
legislation forward by building a TFA Army from Mountain City to Memphis.
Jeff Hartline is handling fields operations and chapter support and would be your first point of contact at jeffreyhartline@gmail.com
Yours
John Harris Executive Director Tennessee Firearms Association
PS If you want
to help us move to get rid of gun free zones, to enact constitutional
carry, and to push back against an unwilling legislative leadership and an
uncooperative administration, please consider this request to join, renew and support
the Tennessee Firearms Association. Asking for your member support of TFA is a
call to action both financially and, more importantly, a call to
affirmative action of individual engagement in a real battle for the
restoration of our rights.
