TFA Announces Upcoming Project Appleseed clinics for members and supporters

The Tennessee Firearms Association is the only no-compromise gun rights organization based in Tennessee.   TFA is dedicated to restoring government to citizen control and giving full effect to the original intent of the Bill of Rights to the United States Constitution as well as to the provisions of the Tennessee Constitution. TFA seeks to reassert the traditional American values of unalienable personal rights, limited governments, and state sovereignty. The organization's goal is to restore the Founding Fathers’ vision of sovereign states joining together as a free union, guided by honesty, common sense, and goodwill of its citizens.

In April 2016, TFA joined with Project Appleseed to host a two-day marksmanship clinic.  What is unique about these clinics is that the instructors are experts in marksmanship as well as American history.  During each break, the instructors teach the true story of the nation that was founded on April 19, 1775, and why liberty was so important to the Founders that they would risk everything for it. Project Appleseed believes that the essence of being an American is living up to the ideals of our Founders and fanning the flames of liberty.

During the breaks at the clinic you will hear stories such as the one involving Samuel Whittemore. Mr. Whittemore was born in England in 1695 and fought in numerous military battles throughout his life for England.  At the age of 80, he was living in Menotomy, Massachusetts (modern Arlington) in the region that included Lexington and Concord.  On April 19, Mr. Whittemore watched as a force of some 700 British soldiers marched from Boston to Concord to seize arms, ammunition and privately owned cannons.  Later, he watched as an additional 1400 soldiers marched passed his home.  He had already heard the reports of the battles at Lexington and Concord.  He decided to fight for his country.  He took a sword, two dueling pistols, a musket and ammunition and placed himself behind a stone wall near the lane on which the returning British soldiers would march.  As the soldiers came on, Mr. Whittemore rose and took aim killing three British soldiers in defense of his country.  As he tried to reload, British soldiers charged his position.  He was shot point blank in the face with a musket, bayonetted more than a dozen times and left for dead.  His neighbors came later to reclaim what they assumed was a corpse but found him barely alive and still trying to reload.  He was carried away on a door. The doctor, believing him to be fatally injured, was finely urged to at least bandage him and make him comfortable.  Mr. Whittemore, although disfigured, survived 18 more years to see the nation that he had defended declare liberty from a tyrant.  He died in 1793 at the age of 98 as an American.

Project Appleseed is more than a marksmanship course, much more.  Understanding our history is critical to the battles we fight today in our own General Assembly.

Please go to the Appleseed website to learn more about the marksmanship programs and what you can expect as a participant.

TFA is pleased to announce that three TFA endorsed Appleseed clinics are now scheduled in Seviervillle, Tennessee this year.  Please consider this opportunity to improve your skills and knowledge of the reasons why grassroots involvement can and does make a difference in the fight for the preservation of liberty.  Attendance is limited by range size so do not delay in signing up.

Each of these events will take place at the Wears Valley Ranch (.22lr only).
