WTN's Brian Wilson interviews Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton about possible 2nd Amendment Legislation in 2023
On Friday, December 16, 2022, WTN’s (FM 99.7 Nashville) Brian Wilson
interviewed Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton about possible Second
Amendment related Tennessee legislation in 2023. One of the issues discussed was whether the Tennessee Legislature might consider REAL constitutional carry legislation in 2023 as well as possible legislation regarding gun free zones.
At present, Tennessee does not have real constitutional carry. Real constitutional carry would mean that it is not a crime to carry a firearm in public. Instead, Tennessee's laws (for over 2 centuries) have generally made it a criminal act for an individual to carry a firearm "with the intent to go armed". That law puts the unconstitutional burden on the individual citizens to prove (to a jury) that the act of carrying a firearm (even on their own property) falls within one of several statutory affirmative defenses.
The TFA's website has links to the entire interview on Brian Wilson's podcast pages, which interview covers the Second Amendment topic and others.
TFA's website also has a shorter version of the interview that is just the discussion on the Second Amendment theme.
