The Tennessee Firearms Association was formed in 1995 and moved forward with incorporation as a not for profit advocacy group dedicated to restoring and protecting the rights each of us are born with and that is protected from government infringement by the Second Amendment. The TFA is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit entity.
In 1996, the Tennessee Firearms Association Legislative Action Committee (
TFALAC) was formed as a state registered political action committee. It was formed to elect strong 2nd Amendment supporters to the State Legislature (and when possible to the office of Governor) and to raise funds to support specific election related activities such as constitutional amendments.
On May 15, 2023, a charter was prepared and sent to the State of Tennessee to start the process of forming the Tennessee Firearms Foundation, Inc. as a Tennessee nonprofit that will seek recognition by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) charity and, if required, registering with the state as a charitable entity. Its mission, in summary and once its formative steps are carried out, will be to provide information regarding constitutional rights, including but not limited to the Second Amendment, to provide information regarding significant Supreme Court decisions and to engage in other appropriate actions that are appropriate for a 501(c)(3) entity.
