TFA has had many request for a sample "Letter to the Editor". We have prepared one for your use. Please take advantage of this and help us increase the pressure on these Tennessee Legislators, like Lt. Gov. Randy McNally, and Bill Lee who apparently believe we will be content with an "incremental step" toward constitutional carry that falls far short of the goal.
Edit it as you feel appropriate and email us a copy at johnharris@tennesseefirearms.com

Dear Editor;
I am in support of REAL Constitutional Carry being passed in
Tennessee in 2021. Real Constitutional carry allows anyone who can legally posses a firearm to carry it. It also needs to allow citizens to carry for self-defense in parks, greenways, public areas, public buildings and other such locations.
Tennessee has had a form of Real Constitutional Carry since 2014 when the Legislature passed a law that allows anyone who can legally possess a firearm to transport it, loaded or unloaded, in a personal vehicle. The step that needs to be taken this year is to allow those same people to get out of their vehicles without being forced by law to leave the firearm unattended in the vehicle.
Currently, there are several bills working their way through the Legislature. However, many of our
Representatives seem uninformed of what Real Constitutional Carry is and why it is the only option.
Opponents gasp at the thought allowing citizens to carry guns without state issued permits would increase crime and violence. But the data to support this fear doesn’t exist! In fact,
the 19 states that have already passed Constitutional Carry have not witnessed
any crime increase since doing so.
Yet, opponents still cry out for state mandated permit systems to require people to get a permit to carry a firearm for self-defense. But criminals are not deterred by the permit system. Instead they continue to
ignore the laws and usually get away with it. Permits don't stop criminals - they just infringe the rights of good citizens.
Rep. Jerry Sexton recently stated that our current permitting system is a violation of the Second Amendment and I agree! As a Tennessean, I expect Real Constitutional Carry to be
made law this year. But, it is not happening with the Governor's current bill which even Senator Mike Bell called only an "incremental step".
Senate Bill 1391 comes much closer to achieving Real Constitutional Carry and should be supported
by every pro-2A Tennessean as well as every truly conservative Legislator.
I encourage all of my fellow Tennessean’s to contact Lt. Governor Randy McNally
at 615-741-6806 in support of Senate Bill 1391 and tell him to derail the Governor’s "incremental step" that is sandwiched inside of the recurring $17
million dollar a year crime package bill.
