Attached is a list of bills that TFA has identified and marked for tracking as of January 27, 2023. It is important to note that the bill cutoff date for the House is January 30, 2023 and we expect quite a few more bills to be filed next week.
These bills have been selected based on the scope of the captions and the topics contained in the bills. However, some of them appear to clearly be caption bills which means that the bill is not what is planned or intended but is just a placeholder for the time being.
At this time, there is not what we would view as bills that would solve the problems in Tennessee, particularly under the United States Supreme Court's decision in
Bruen, concerning the lack of REAL constitutional carry, the elimination of gun free zones, and the elimination of other infringements that did not exist as part of the "national historical tradition" as of 1791. That might change next week, but time is running out. Perhaps calls from voters to Legislative leadership could help motivate them to get the right bills filed and pushed to the floors.
If you are aware of other bills that you think TFA should consider tracking, please let us know soon.
