Bills are moving through the Legislature. As has been the case over the last 7 years, several of the pro-2nd Amendment bills are coming up and being derailed by the House's committee system which is under the total control of Beth Harwell (who now thinks she is the right person to be governor).
Attached is a PDF report of bills that had activity this week. One of them, carried by Judd Matheny, failed to get even a single affirmative vote in the House subcommittee that was dominated by Republicans.
This is Rep. Matheny's comment on Facebook following the subcommittee's actions (you have to back the video up - the state's index is off):
At the very same moment (see video beginning at 57:15), Nikolas Cruz
was massacring dozens of students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High
School in Parkland Florida, I was having my a## handed to me, prevented
from passing HB0884, in the Civil Justice subCommittee of the Tennessee
State Legislature, which would provide the ONLY deterrence from Cruz's
actions. The tragic irony here is that I had been wrongly convinced,
that in order for me to pass the bill, permitting valid handgun permit
holders to carry their weapons, I needed to exempt out school
properties.#NeverAgain
Another attached PDF is the committee calendars for the bills we are presently tracking. This shows the bills that are scheduled to be heard over the next two weeks. We have highlighted several particular bills that need your calls for and against ("bumpstock ban").
