Bill Lee made a number of written assurances to the Tennessee Firearms Association when he ran for governor in 2018. Most of the promises related to Second Amendment issues. A few of the promises specifically addressed campus carry on school grounds, allowing school employees to be armed in order to protect themselves and potentially students, and, enacting other laws specifically to remove existing infringements in Tennessee law on the rights protected by the Second Amendment.
His promises about school safety and security are of particular interest as Tennessee and the nation are heartbroken over another mass public shooting that might have been stopped or resisted if unconstitutional gun free zones and unconstitutional Tennessee laws had been repealed ... as he promised.
The story is detailed, long, and includes a copy of candidate Bill Lee's letter in 2018 to the Tennessee Firearms Association in which he enumerated those promises - all of which have been abandoned or broken.
