Bills to be heard the week of April 10, 2023
Legislative committee calendars for the week of April 10, 2023, indicate that 7 different committees are scheduled to hear bills that being tracked by TFA.
It is critical that 2nd Amendment supports contact Legislators now to demand that the Tennessee Legislature push forward with House Bill 1005 / Senate Bill 1503 which the Senate Judiciary committee has tried to kill and has substantially damaged it. We anticipate that some Legislators will refuse to stand firm in light of the substantial public attack on the Legislature by gun control advocates in the last 2 weeks to demand more gun control including RED FLAG laws. This is underscored by reports indicating that House Republican Caucus Chair Jeremy Faison is now working to revise a Democrat sponsored bill that would make it a crime to leave a firearm in a motor vehicle or boat (including houseboats and motorized recreational vehicles potentially) unless the firearm is in a locked contained that is affixed to the vehicle.
