Dear Friend,
On the top of one of the bookshelves in my office is an American Flag folded in a triangle, It appears to be hand stitched. It's the type of flag handed to a wife or next of kin at a military funeral. The flag that I have was given to the family after my grandfather's death. He didn't die in action but much later in life. I can only imagine how someone feels when they lose someone in battle or to war. It is the ultimate sacrifice for your country.
Today, we celebrate our fallen heroes, those who made that ultimate sacrifice and I have to admit that today, I'm sad. I'm sad because as I look at our nation today, I wonder if they died in vain. I'm praying for our nation! I love this country and No, it's not perfect (no country is) but with all of its faults, frailties, mistakes, missteps, and problems, it's still the most free country in the world. Actually, it was until Covid-19!! Now, I'm not sure where we fall in line as it relates to "FREEDOM." Do I seem frustrated? I am.
Let me not get off track! Today Friend, we celebrate our heroes who died for our freedom and the freedom of our nation, they made the ultimate sacrifice and we will forever be grateful. Happy Memorial Day 2020. |
