Subject: 💥Martin Luther King Jr., A Dream Deferred or a Dream Hijacked?

Happy MLK Day 2022

Friend,

In our current political environment, today as I write a birthday tribute to a beloved leader who had a Dream about our country and its people, I wonder about the status of the Dream.

I recall watching a televised tribute to MLK on his birthday one year, I watched as long as I could until finally, I changed the channel. Maybe it's me, maybe I expected something different, I expected a tribute with words that sounded remotely like MLK. Inspiring words that spoke the TRUTH but left HOPE. Instead, I felt that each speaker used the allotted time to push their own agenda. I was disappointed.

I am thankful for the life and words of Martin Luther King Jr., I thank God for his recorded speeches, his writings, and the spirit of his Deam. For a while, it looked like we were moving in the right direction to realize the Dream, and then something happened. Suddenly, everything we hear and see on the news networks takes us backward and not forward. Now there are black students in universities asking for segregation; segregated safe spaces, segregated graduations are being requested by students whose ancestors bled, fought, and died to end segregation.

Is the Dream still alive? Is the Dream deferred? Or, has the Dream been hijacked by others with a different ideology who benefit by the use of the name of Martin Luther King, Jr but do not believe in or use his tactics, strategy, or Dream.

Martin Luther King, Jr was an amazing man who yielded to the call of God in his life. Happy Birthday Sir (posthumously). Gone too soon.

🔻Below is a video of a speech that was given at a school, it's an inspiring talk!
