Are You Ready for the "New Normal" I'm Not!

To say things are crazy is an understatement! For me, things have been crazy since 2016. Let me explain; I've never considered myself to be a political person, I figured the politicians had that all covered. I suppose like most Americans, I thought that people who chose to go into politics were much smarter than I. I thought, my responsibility as a citizen was to know the issues and the candidates well enough to make an educated decision and to vote.
For me, during the last Presidential election everything seemed normal (different, because of the candidates, but normal pre-election activities and debates). What freaked me out was the reactions after the election. The violence, the marches, etc., it left me wondering if I was still in America. After all, America is known and admired around the world for it's peaceful exchange of Presidential power but I was seeing on TV cars set on fire and store windows smashed because of the outcome of an election. Strange. I realized that things had changed and I wondered when it changed and why I hadn't noticed? I had a lot of questions.
Since then, I've done a lot of homework and my focus toward politics has shifted. I'm much more knowledgeable and I pay attention to what's going on politically. I think this is the new normal for me politically, I cannot afford to disengage from the political conversation.
I realize that I'm not called to politics as a politician but as a voter, I'm called to pray and to be aware so that I can pray according to God's will for this nation. |
| | | Coronavirus, Covid-19 or the Wuhan Virus
No matter what you call it, it's here and our lives have all been changed by it. So where did it come from? A wet market or a lab? There are various stories. How do we treat it medically? There are various stories. While I have my own thoughts, I won't share them here, All I really know is that it kills. I lost someone very special to me and so I'm not trying to minimize it in the least. But, I will say that more people survive it than succumb to it. Also, it seems that sometimes the cure may be complicit in the complications that result in death. My ex-Pastor A. R. Bernard in New York, says he recovered within 24 hours after taking a certain medication and he is not the only one but the "experts" are not recommending this medication.
They say be safe, wash your hands, don't put your hands in your face, wear a mask, only go out when necessary, stay six feet away-social distancing, don't visit elderly relatives, (Not my new normal!) |
| | Protect Your Immune System
One thing is clear, the virus thrives where there are pre-existing conditions and compromised immune systems. I'm praying that wearing mask is not the new normal. Take care of your immune system!! |
| | It's an Election Year!
The country is more divided than I remember it being before although, I know it was divided during the Civil War when Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican President. Now, like then, the ideologies are diametrically opposed. It will be interesting to see what happens in November. |
| | The Work from Home New Normal
It doesn't matter if you're an entrepreneur or if you usually go into a corporate office, all of us have become experts on Zoom! Are you changing your business plan to accommodate more zoom meetings? While I don't like anything about this pandemic, I have become proficient in Zoom and my clients and colleagues seem to like Zoom too. |
