Subject: So.. where did you get your groceries this week?!😶

Happy New Year!

It's a new year of adventures and challenges ahead, and I already overcame my first challenge.

The weekly grocery shop.

Shelves have been a little on the empty side as of late due to supply shortages, and I had to get creative to keep the fridge stocked without breaking bank. A friend of mine instantly gave a really good idea of ordering meal kits, and so I've already placed an order with HelloFresh last week.

I've compiled a list of reputable meal kit services that deliver to most areas of Sydney. You can check them out, if you've having the same issue as I am with your nearby supermarkets.

Here's a list of meal delivery services you can consider

HelloFresh

A well known brand we've all heard of, and I've also reviewed them twice on my channel. I'm currently using them to supplement the gaps in my grocery shop right now.

Their meals start from $10.99 to $7.99 per serving depending on the plan you choose. They have a wide range of different meals to choose from as well as vegetarian options.

EveryPlate

EveryPlate is a sister company of HelloFresh and I got to try them for a review on my channel. The meals are super simple and the biggest selling point is the price. They start from $6.49 and go as low as $3.98 per serving, depending on the meal plan you choose.

I also like how they offer student and elderly discounts.

Watch my review video. (it's at the very end)

Dinnerly

Dinnerly was actually the first meal kit delivery service I reviewed on my channel. I got it with a super big discount at the time, but they're prices are still lower than HelloFresh and only slightly higher than EveryPlate.

They have a weekly menu to choose from, which keeps things interesting.

Soulara

I have not personally tried Soulara myself, but as one of the few completely plant-based meal kit delivery services in Australia - I thought it deserves a shout out.

Every meal is locally produced, which makes your carbon footprint even smaller by not only eating less meat but also locally.

Something fancier when you need something special

If you're missing home cooked meals or want to try real authentic dishes from a cuisine you've never tried before, then FoodSt is something you should check out.

FoodSt brings local chefs to create home style dishes from their cultural background, and then they deliver it to you frozen ready to be reheated and enjoyed. There's no cooking involved.

It's a happy middle from eating takeout all the time without needing to cook yourself.

Staying safe while having fun

I can honestly say I didn't do many activities beyond what you saw on my channel in 2021. I think we were all just thinking we can wait it out and then life will be back to normal in no time.

How wrong I was...

So instead of another year of wait-and-see, I'm shifting my approach and getting creative on how to still have fun while staying safe.

Here are a few ideas that might help make this Summer both fun and safe.

Private picnic on your very own boat!

GoBoat let's you hire an electric boat that fits up to 8 people on board and sail around Cabarita Point.

It starts at $129 for an hour or $199 for 2 hours, and the best part is you don't need a boat licence to sail. Meaning anyone can use their services.

You get to be outdoors, socialise with friends and most importantly - it's safe from the crowds.

Each boat has a picnic table, so bring a picnic basket and some playing cards to have a fun afternoon OUTSIDE.

GoBoat is also pet friendly.

Drive-in Cinema

If the home theatre isn't cutting it anymore and the normal cinema just seems a tad bit unwise in the current situation, then a drive-in is the perfect solution. Skyline Drive In Blacktown is a very cool retro feeling outdoor drive-in cinema perfect for the current situation.

I'm not sure if the diner is operating right now, but it's a cool diner reminding me of the old American style ones you see in movies.

Paddle Boarding

I was brainstorming outdoor activities I could do while staying as safe as possible, and water sports were a big hit.

We're really lucky to have all the offerings of a big city, but also all the great open water at our doorstep, and it seems silly not to take advantage of it.

Kayaking, surfing and paddle boarding were just a few I thought of, and out of the list I figured paddle boarding would be the most accessible to everyone regardless of experience.

There's many paddle boarding classes around town, but I found Point Piper SUP & Kayak Hire Centre to be one of the more highly reviewed places.

You can hire a paddle board for just $20 an hour, which makes it a cheap, fun but also safe day out.
