Week one, done!

We're officially one week into summer reading! 🤩

We have 180 adult summer readers so far, including 77 new participants, 54 readers returning for their second year with our online summer reading system, and 49 readers returning for their third year! And together we've read 123 books!

Rules Refresher Update

Last week, we contacted a handful of participants to remind them of the rules, particularly the rule about starting a book on/after June 12. Thank you to everyone who responded!

There were a few books removed, as well as some readers who confirmed that they did indeed start and finish their novels in one day (wow!) Having just burned through an eight-book series in two weeks... I can sympathize. 😅

This will hopefully be the last update about the rules, but rest assured—we are keeping an eye out!

Patron Picks

It's your turn to share your favorite reads!

This summer, we're introducing a new program called Patron Picks, inspired by our popular Staff Picks display. Your recommendations will be placed on display so fellow book lovers can discover new treasures.

To share your picks, simply fill out a Patron Picks slip and return it with the book—please return it sticking up out of the book, like a bookmark, so we don't miss it! We included a few slips in each Adult Summer Reading booklet, but if you run out, we have more at the Adult Reference Desk!

Leaderboard

Our first leaderboard of 2024 has some names that are familiar from last year—and some newcomers!

Returning reader miscinky takes the first first place. SarahD22, also a returning reader, takes second place, followed by new participant KateK in third place! In fourth place, we have a five-way tie between ntine10, Beth, Carmela, djablons—all returning readers—and new participant shanlan96.
