The Book is Always Better

...but we like movies, too. Here are a few recent book-to-movie adaptations to help you complete the "read a book and watch the movie" challenge!

Rachel, a New York native, accompanies her longtime boyfriend, Nick, to a wedding in Singapore. Excited about visiting Asia for the first time, Rachel is unprepared to learn that Nick belongs to one of the country's wealthiest families and is a sought-after bachelor. Starring Constance Wu, Henry Golding, and Michelle Yeoh.
Beautiful Boy (Book) and Beautiful Boy (Movie)
The heartbreaking and inspiring experience of survival, relapse, and recovery in a family coping with addiction over many years. Starring Steve Carell, Maura Tierney, and Jack Dylan Grazer.
Boy Erased (Book) and Boy Erased (Movie)
The true story of Jared Eamons, the son of a Baptist pastor in a small American town, who must overcome the fallout of being outed to his parents. Starring Lucas Hedges, Nicole Kidman, and Russell Crowe.
First Man (Book) and First Man (Movie)
The riveting story behind the first manned mission to the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the decade leading to the historic Apollo 11 flight. Starring Ryan Gosling and Claire Foy.
The Hate U Give (Book) and The Hate U Give (Movie)
Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance is shattered when she witnesses the shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Starring Amandla Stenberg, Regina Hall, Russell Hornsby.
Everyone deserves a great love story, but for seventeen year old Simon Spier, it's a little more complicated. Starring Nick Robinson, Jennifer Garner, and Josh Duhamel.
And of course, no list would be complete without book-to-screen classics like the epic Lord of the Rings and Hunger Games trilogies, or the many adaptations of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility.
