The New Pecking Order
Did you know? We're changing the way we organize our non-fiction books! This September, we'll be switching over to a new labeling system, which we've named the Pecking Order. (Yes, that's a pun our Berlin-Peck!)
As you know, each library book has a label that tells us where it belongs on the shelf. For non-fiction books, that label has a number that represents a subject. Starting in September, those numbers will be replaced with a set of words that serve a similar purpose. For a book like Under the Henfluence, the label will change from numbers like 636.5 DANOVICH to words like ANIMALS—FARM—CHICKENS—Danovich. We're hoping this change will make it easier to browse and find books.
This change only affects non-fiction books. Fiction will still be organized by author's last name.
