It feels like Summer Reading snuck up on us this year! It's been a busy spring here at Berlin-Peck. The good news: carpet installation is wrapping up in the adult section, and the rest should be finished by mid-June. Thank you all for your patience!
We're also working with BEAT (that's the Berlin Equity Action Team) to organize a Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 17. It's going to be a fantastic event, with food, live music, speakers and presentations, a film premiere, and more. Juneteenth is a national holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. The holiday itself is on June 19, which is a Monday this year, and the library will be closed.
Summer Reading Online
If you participated last year, then this year's website will be very familiar. You can log your books online, pick raffle baskets for your virtual raffle tickets, see what your fellow Summer Readers have read—and climb the leaderboard! We'll be holding ten raffles, starting at the end of June.
Want to poke around the new website a few days early? Sign up to get started. Once the program starts on Monday, you'll be able to add books.
Still want a paper booklet? You can download the booklet to print your own or pick up a copy at the Adult Reference Desk. The booklet is optional, but it has all the important information in one place—plus a reading log.
Rules Refresher
Remember, only books that you started reading on (or after) June 12 count towards Summer Reading. And if you're reading with your child, please count those books in one of the children's programs—not adult. And yes, you can count audiobooks and graphic novels!
