OFFICIAL RELEASE
Kettlebell Simple & Sinister: Revised & Updated
Book Cover Simple and Sinister 2.0
StrongFirst is proud to present Kettlebell Simple & Sinister: Revised & Updated Edition. Or simply S&S 2.0. (Get your copy by clicking the book cover to your left.)

Six years after the publication of the original S&S, our readers are still getting great results from the program, and the book has never left the Amazon weight training best-seller list. So why fix what was not broken? Pavel answers this question with a quote from a novel:

You know our motto: “We never let well enough alone.”

In the past six years, we have learned a lot. Researched and developed Strong Endurance. Designed and tested countless plans in the field. Received a lot of excellent feedback from our certified instructors and our online community and acted on it. The end result is Kettlebell Simple & Sinister: Revised & Updated Edition.

The training load stubbornly sticks to the original 10x10 high power swings and five strict get-up singles per arm. The difference is in the details.

Pavel explains how he improved S&S in the new edition:
  • Maximized the program’s reliability with step loading, a classic strategy of old-time strongmen endorsed by top Soviet sport scientists;
  • Outlined the exact progression intended to eliminate any questions or doubts;
  • Offered two different types of weight jumps to readers with different psychological make-ups;
  • Added a training tactic for the gireviks whose weak link in the swing is the grip—this tactic has deep roots in the history of the iron game and is backed by the science of biochemistry;
  • Prioritized the strength and practice mindset even more by postponing training and testing against the clock until the reader has reached the “Timeless Simple” standard;
  • Developed all new instructions for the timed tests and training to get the most benefit from occasional “smokers” with a minimal downside;
  • Optimized the dose of glycolytic exercise based on the best practices of elite endurance athletes;
  • Designed a set of performance “stop signs” to assure quality control when pushing against the clock;
  • Introduced deloading tactics for advanced S&S practitioners whose progress has stalled;
  • Added a special section, “Why People Fail on S&S,” by a colleague with years of experience doing and coaching S&S;
  • Laid out the options from Simple to Sinister and beyond.Optimized the dose of glycolytic exercise based on the best practices of elite endurance athletes;

This week, we bring you an excerpt: Lift No Faster Than You Can Talk.
Building stronger people for life, not just for the gym or lifting platform
Foundations Workshop
Developing lasting strength is about the practice of becoming more impervious to life’s stresses and increasing our ability to withstand them—whether they are things to move or tough jobs to tackle. Growing stronger builds our capability reserves so that what was previously hard is less so. And because life takes less of a toll, we've got energy to spare to enjoy it. The alternative is not a future we wish on anyone.

Our strength system is built on a foundation of principles that withstand the test of time, of circumstances, and of experience. We build stronger people for life, not just for the gym or lifting platform.

Since physical strength is the foundation for every other physical quality, we use kettlebell, barbell, and bodyweight training to teach the fundamental skills that, when practiced, build solid strength—safely and effectively—without interfering with daily life, job or sport.
We are proud to announce our new StrongFirst Foundations Workshop, specifically designed as an accessible introduction to our proven principles through expert coaching and hands-on practice, whether their preference is using kettlebells, barbells or bodyweight as resistance. This half-day workshop covers power breathing, planks, barbell deadlift, kettlebell swing, and pushup.

Some exercises may sound familiar; but we teach and re-engineer them in ways students have never experienced—feeling first-hand what strength, StrongFirst, and our principles are about, and knowing exactly how to benefit from them.

Join our first Foundations Workshop in Vicenza, Italy, on February 1st, 2020, with more locations and dates to come.
