Subject: The “Russian pie” tactic for your stop-start training


At a Russian party a guest was served a slice of pie.

“But I would like two slices,” he says.

The hostess hands him a knife. “Here, cut it in half.”

Instead of doing “X” reps on the minutes, do ½ X every 30sec.

For instance, you have been doing heavy swings for 5 reps OTM. Switch to sets of 3 reps every 30sec.

Then progress to sets of 2 reps every 20sec.

And, finally, to a single rep every 10sec—Rif’s notorious “dead swings.”

You will be surprised at how hard you have to work—and how little lactic acid you produce and quickly recover after training.
