Subject: TOS calls review March 2023

StrongFirst TOS,

Thank you for joining me on our first quarterly call of 2023. Below you will find a review of relevant call notes.

StrongFirst Events cell phone and media policy

Cell phones: Your cell phone is to be silent and checked only at a break or lunch.

Unless there is an extreme circumstance, your phone is not to be seen during the Certification, Workshop, or Special Event (except during breaks, as noted).

BT/IM media policy: The licensee and/or Master for the event will ensure that a video of any BT/IM attempt(s) is made for video review during judging. This will be the only video allowed, and it will be at the discretion of StrongFirst HQ as to whether it can be shared or used in any way. (Social media, etc.)

Filming policy: The licensee will coordinate filming and photographs as desired/required for the event. No other filming or photography is allowed during any instruction. However, photos or filming can occur during breaks or after the event.

StrongFirst Forum and social media

The StrongFirst forum is “our house” versus the social media platforms we use, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Use the forum to interact with the StrongFirst community and be helpful.

Use social media to repost StrongFirst content (including old articles) and promote certifications. Please note that posting workshops in the main StrongFirst group/page will not interest 99% of the people seeing it. Targeted advertising and working with the host are the best strategies for workshops.

Get-up standards update

When performing the Get-up, there are multiple accepted ways to perform the low sweep:

  1. Bring the leg from the extended position directly back into the low sweep.

  2. Bend the extended leg first and then perform the low sweep.

  3. Bend the extended leg first and perform a “foot switch,” moving the “up” leg in front of the now bent lower leg.

All of these are acceptable within the Get-up.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if we can be of assistance in any way.
