| Following is one of our training protocols of that vintage. In today’s Strong Endurance™ terminology, these are “glycolytic power repeats.”
Two times a week a girevik or girevichka would do 3-5 sets of explosive 10-25 reps of a kettlebell quick lift: the snatch (one hand switch, reps counted per arm), the double jerk, the double clean, or the long cycle double C&J. The kettlebells were heavy, the sets were hard. The rests between sets were powerlifting lazy, 5min or so.
This simple routine produced remarkable “what the hell effects”—impressive upper back and shoulder development, a killer grip, great “conditioning,” and rapid fat loss.
