“In case civilization is temporary®.”
2023 has been a year that continues to prove the point above. Before you take this in a negative fashion, let’s look at why “in case civilization is temporary” is a positive.
Stoics use the phrase memento mori to always keep in mind that death is inevitable, but this is not a fatalistic view. It is a reminder to live now, in the moment, and as Seneca wrote, each day is lived “as a complete life.”
We use the phrase: “In case civilization is temporary” to remind us that the comforts and security surrounding us can change quickly, and we should be prepared to take on that change. Challenges will arise. Be ready to meet them.
2023 saw over 400 StrongFirst events worldwide.
We are honored by our students’ investment of time and resources to participate in these events. It is how we live our code. To pursue, promote, and practice strength because we believe strength has a greater purpose.
But what does 2024 have in store?
Well, if the last few years have taught us anything, we can plan, but we need to adapt to the changes. There is a famous saying that no plan survives contact with the enemy, and while this is true, you still need a plan to begin with.
So, plan and be ready to adapt.
Choose a challenge for 2024.
And you may be saying: “No thanks. I’ve been challenged enough.” But you would be missing out on the powerful experience of taking on a challenge of your choosing instead of constantly surviving the ones you did not choose.
Make 2024 the year you choose a challenge and embrace the journey to accomplishing it. And even if you do not achieve the final step, the journey will change you.
We are here to help provide those challenges you can choose to take on and provide the tools, training, and knowledge to help you on your journey.
What will you choose in 2024?
