Subject: 2, 1, 0…Simple and Sinister February is ending

Leap into Simple and Sinister is coming to an end. How did you do?

Brett Jones, StrongFirst Director of Education, has been tracking his leap into Simple and Sinister on the StrongFirst Forum.

When I came up with the idea behind Simple and Sinister February, I thought this would be great for a month-long focus and then realized that having come up with the idea—I would need to participate as well.

But what did Brett learn in a month of swings and get-ups every day?

I have never thought of myself as someone who could train daily. It seemed I would need a day off, but during this month, I trained for days consecutively and, after a bit of a break-in period, really started to enjoy it. There were three missed training days in the month, but that is life. And if I control the intensity, density, and volume, I can train daily.

The 32kg was the base of the S&S training, and combined with Iron Cardio practice, two surprising results came out of the month. Hypertrophy and getting back to a 40kg S&S and Iron Cardio session. Adding muscle and gaining strength while training nearly daily? This Simple and Sinister program may be on to something.

Also, the daily practice of the warm-up and get-ups has my body feeling great.

What can a daily (or near-daily) practice do for you and your training? Even though S&S February is ending, it doesn’t mean you can’t start your own Simple and Sinister practice. Progressing to the Simple standard, Timeless and timed, might unlock some hidden potential in you.
