Subject: It's finished and ready for you to use... A Picture Book!!

Update Nov/Dec 2024

Hi Teachosauri,

I hope this email finds you all well! As we step into a new month, I’m thrilled to share a brand-new resource with you...

Introducing: The Doo-Bree-What-Sit-Ease Picture Book PDF for left hand set up!

When I first came across the phrase Doo Bree What Sit, it captured my imagination—its rhythm, playfulness, and simplicity.

Traditionally, it’s a lighthearted term for “thingamajig” or “whatchamacallit,” but I saw it differently.

I envisioned it as a guiding phrase for young violinists, with each word representing a finger: Doo for the thumb, Bree for the first finger, What for the second, and Sit for the third.

Yet something felt incomplete—how could I help children connect with the pinky?

At first, I tried pluralising it to Doo Bree What Sitees, but it didn’t quite resonate.

Then I tried Doo Bree What Sit Tease, but Tease didn’t provide simplicity and clarity to the role of the pinky...

That’s when Ease emerged. The pinky, often a tricky finger for young learners, became Ease—light, yet steady; soft, yet strong.

It’s about floating with precision, embodying both effortlessness and purpose.

This book is designed to take children on an imaginative journey where their fingers aren’t just fingers—they’re characters with personalities and unique roles.

By using playful metaphors and vivid storytelling, children will engage each finger with care and confidence, building a solid technical foundation while discovering the joy of playing the violin.

There’s a strong sense of teamwork between the fingers as well as their individual characters.

I hope this approach not only supports your students’ technical progress but also inspires them to develop a lasting love for music.

By giving each finger a voice, we’re helping children connect more deeply with their instrument—making learning both memorable and fun.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and any feedback on how this resonates with your teaching approach??

Love Laura xxx
