I was sat directly in front of them.

They knew I was there, but I felt invisible. They looked around, trying to ensure they had everyone ready for their team photo.

"Laura!", they shouted across.

I thought, maybe this is it... I'm finally a part of a team!!

"Can you go and grab Tracey for us?"

To be honest, I felt like crying. I felt so lonely in that moment.

I have worked as part of the early childhood team in music from Pre-Primary to Year 2 for 8 years in this one place.

I had written a beautiful Nativity song which they used at their Nativity and which the violinists played along to...

And all the staff and children there adore me, so I know it's not personal. It's the nature of our job...

Being a violin teacher is the most rewarding work on the planet...

BUT it can also be one of the most lonely.
