Subject: How I keep my sense of purpose during challenging times...

The news at the moment may leave us feeling helpless. Now is the time to connect.

Hey Friend,

Hasn't it been a roller-coaster this past year for all of us?! My thoughts go out to everyone in need in the world and I hope, that as musicians, we can use music to connect with one another and bring about peace on an individual level in these challenging times.

I have been focussing on spreading joy to teachers and students from across the globe, through my online resources hub, Stringosaurus. I aim to work within my circle of influence, which feels frustrating at times, because I often feel helpless when watching the news and seeing the bigger picture.

One thing that I have been really grateful for is the teachers in my community. You see, when you join the resources hub, you don't just have access to amazing resources and lesson plans... if that's all it was, people would simply sign up for a month, download everything and then just cancel for free.

In fact, the teachers in my community are incredibly loyal because they feel personally connected with and genuinely supported. They come for the resources and stay for the support and community.

It's a win/win! My teachers win by inspiring, nurturing and connecting with their students and I win because I wake up every day with a sense of purpose, knowing that I can make a difference, no matter how small.

For instance, one of my teachers was feeling exhausted by a certain group of students who struggled to focus and would act up in class. She reached out to me because I've previously worked in challenging environments and I gave her a list of tools to implement in a way which is firm, fair and understanding.

Another teacher had a disruptive term and she needed some music that would be simple, yet allow her students to shine during their Easter music showcase. I love helping people, so it makes my day when people ask for it!

A third teacher reached out for help with breaking down and scaffolding vibrato exercises. I came up with 3 cute and fun activities for her, one activity included an interactive video.

If you are struggling in any way, please just reach out. Now is the time to connect.

Warmest regards,

Laura
