Hello Friend,
Have you ever found that your violin and viola students' instruments start out well balanced and aligned and as they hold them, your students become more and more tired as pesky tension sneaks in?!
We need to encourage our students to create an awareness of their bodies right from the start, so that they notice whether they are in alignment.
There are already so many creative ideas for posture and instrument alignment in my Teaching Resources Hub as well as in my newly launched eBook of violin and viola games, but that's not all...
I have now paired two posture resources from my Resources Hub for you to buy direct from my store so you can teach your first lessons on violin hold and posture with confidence! Do you know what? It was also my birthday the other day, so I am discounting this new pack to celebrate... only until Sunday!
1.Line up your violin/viola interactive instrument alignment song and video and...
2. Transformational violin position song and routine to share directly with your students!
Now I have tried and tested the Line Up Your Violin cute video on my own students and they LOVE it. It has such a gentle, lilting quality which means that they feel calm and relaxed. It is also not over stimulating. There is enough happening with cross body pointing with the right hand for students to feel thoroughly absorbed in the process of body awareness and correct instrument alignment.
I'm pleased to report, the children absolutely adore the monkey in the video holding their Stringosaurus instruments! It is just so sweet. Do you want to see a clip?
The fabulous string composer, Justino Pérez commented...
"Wow, what an excellent resource, putting the student's experience first, wow what a concept."
You will be pleased to know that the violin position routine song is based on sound pedagogy and is inspired by Rachel Cooper from the Benedetti Foundation. I've turned it into an acapella song using musical cues and suspense to create an unforgettable routine.
Isn't it delightful to have so many ways to teach these fundamentals these days?
