Subject: A Magical Violin Moment + 70% OFF for Christmas!

Hi Friend,

Violet's body was shaking so hard from her laughter.

"Doo Bree Doo Bree Doo Breeeee," she sang, as she skated her thumb and hand up and down the neck of her violin...

Whilst reading the new picture book, The Doo-Bree-What-Sit-Ease (a playful picture book designed to help with left-hand setup by personifying each finger as one of the syllables), I could almost see the cogs in Violet's head whirring!!!

Violet took the story as an invitation to play and experiment...

What happens if we squeeze Doo thumb?

What if first finger Bree stretches out a little more? Or if we let "What" choose whether he wants to sit next to the first finger or third finger?

Her curiosity flowed into her improvised violin playing, and I could see her making connections that would help her solidify her posture, finger positions, and understanding of her hand's role.

It was such a magical moment! This book really encourages freedom within structure, which is always something I try to nurture in my students.

If you’re looking for some more playful ways to encourage this exploration in your students, a few of my other resources might be helpful!
