Subject: Random April Inspiration - Tools for Peace & Storytelling Trends!

Hey Friend

Welcome to your new, monthly newsletter for Story City Creators. Spring is in the air and we have exciting things to share!

You signed up to our newsletter in the past on our website, and while we’ve been a little quiet over the years, with the launch of our brand-new app and our creator tools (where you can make your own adventures!) we’re hoping these monthly newsletters both entertain, delight, and provide professional development (PD) to help you create not only adventures, but a thriving creative career.

Each newsletter will include story and project inspiration, PD resources, creator spotlights, and some fun random things we’ve found on the internet that we thought you’d like.

And we do mean random.

In this edition, we bring you Story City's tools for peace, blogging trends, and 14 ways to make money through your passion in 2022. Enjoy!

Creator Spotlight – Writer, Dimity Powell

The author of award-nominated Story City adventure, The Chapel of Unlove, Dimity Powell has written many books for children. Her words appear in school magazines, anthologies, online, and in junior novels and picture books. Congrats to Dimity on her new book "This is My Dad" set for release on March 15, celebrating families of all shapes and sizes.

Have you checked out Dimity’s comedic adventure, The Chapel of Unlove, on the Story City App yet?  In this adventure your godmother is about to marry the man of your nightmares, an Elvis impersonator named, Barry. Will you help them make it to the chapel on time or sabotage this clearly disastrous match? Download the App and head into the streets of Hope Island on the Gold Coast to play! Or hit it up in Spoiler Mode from your favourite comfy seat at home.

Creator Spotlight – Musician, Jed Walters

Jed A. Walters is an award-winning composer and musician with diverse abilities on multiple instruments along with a vast understanding of genre and film scores that set him apart from your everyday musician.  A big congratulations to Jed on starting a music school, Make Noise Music School, in the Gold Coast to share his knowledge with enthusiasts keen to discover the joy of music. The school offers training in acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, and music production. You can also explore his music at Instagram and Facebook

He created the scores for Story City adventures the Book of the Sun, The Chapel of Unlove, and the Hokey Pokey. Will you choose to become a wizard using Australia’s first book of magic? Or perhaps go back in time to get your grandparents together in the surf-culture of the 50’s? Or do you choose to save (or sabotage) your god-mother’s wedding? Download the app and take one of these adventures in person, or enjoy them via Spoiler Mode from the comfort of your home.

Story City Creators, don’t forget to let us know when you have launched your latest piece-de-resistance for potential inclusion in our creator spotlights! It can be a new book, or music school 😉, or anything in between. The only ‘catch’ is that you have to have a published experience on the Story City app. So get creating!

Story City Peace Making Initiative

We stand with the people of Ukraine who fight for their freedom, and with the people of Russia who do not want war. We hope those in both countries can use our creator tools, normally used for entertainment and games, for peace and protest. If you know anyone there who might be able to use Story City to those important stories in the places they protest, please share this page with them. Or use it to chronical your protests against the conflict in your home cities.
