Subject: Paid Visual Art & Social Media Opportunities

Hello Friend,

It's well into the second half of this year (how!?) but we hope 2024 has been kind to you. We have a couple of paid opportunities for visual artists and social media savvy creators no matter where you're located. If this is you, read on!

Visual Artist Callout

We're looking for visual artists (who can be based anywhere in the world) whose work matches the art styles we're looking for for 4 new, Story City lead adventures. Initially we will be paying you to produce character concepts and art samples for a story. We will then be using this to apply for further funding which will then allow us to flesh out full scenes and illustrations in Jan of 2025. We would need the character concepts and art samples delivered by Aug 30th if you are selected for a commission.

To throw your hat in the ring to be considered for this paid commission, all you need to do is reply to this email by August 5th 2024, with the following:

  • Which Story: A note on what stories you believe your portfolio or art style matches. We will be commissioning multiple artists so if your style only suits one of the 4 stories we're commissioning below, please still send an email with your interest for whichever story makes sense for your style!

  • Portfolio Samples: Samples from your portfolio that showcase how your art style suits the vibe/style we are going for as shown in the mood boards for each story below.

  • Rates: An idea of your average hourly or project rates. We understand this is not a quote, and that only with the full scope of the project will you be able to give an accurate budget. These numbers allow us to understand how involved it is to produce the portfolio pieces you are presenting. eg. this piece took you 3 hrs vs this piece which took 10hrs.

  • Availability: Confirm your ability to deliver (paid) concepts and samples by Aug 30th

Please see the story concepts we are hiring for below:

Aimed at an adult audience we're after dark and creepy. Doesn't have to be photorealistic (can be illustrated) but the idea potentially with some pieces is that we could have them be semi-transparent so people can stitch themselves into the artwork. If you have any experiences with short, glitchy style animations/gifs that would also be helpful in this story as there are a lot of moments of the paranormal causing glitching to the 'streaming technology'.

Aimed at children and a family audience, cartoon style in nature, this project anthropomorphizes inanimate objects like swings, stairs, fire hydrants etc. the user also gets to select their pet which ranges from dog, to snake, to hedgehog, to alien. The characters rather than the backgrounds are the main focus.

This audience is similar to the Zombie's Run audience, it's aimed at adults, it is emulating a true crime podcast, but is set in a fantasy version of the world were magic is commonplace alongside people who don't have magic. Think urban fantasy illustration styles. This story will be heavily illustration involved as there are 6 episodic scripts to pull together visuals for, probably 36 pieces in all.

For a GenZ University student audience, Digital glitching and remix culture are on display in this particular story. Think glichy sci-fi, think digital art, think collage, think composite images, think irreverent remixing of classics. Preference is given to those who can animate the morphing of 'classic style oil painting' artworks into bat-shit bonkers crazy remixes and showing the morphing/changes across a 10-15 second clip.

Social Media Savvy Creator Opportunity

We're looking to hire a part-time social media savvy creator for a short 1-2month contract to create social media content, mainly video based, for TikTok and Instagram. We have a bunch of video assets and artwork that need to be turned into short 30-60 sec max clips (creator testimonials, trailers for new stories, response to trends, marketing our new podcast for LinkedIn) but are low on capacity in our team to execute crafting of posts from our assets.

Ideally you have proven engagement on your own Tiktok/Instagram channels (please link them), don't mind being in front of the camera, and have a fun/goofy vibe like Duolingo Tiktok or TSA Threads (linking to any posts you have with similar vibes would be helpful).

If you'd like to throw your hat into the ring, respond to this email with links to previous socials you've worked on, specific posts that match the vibe we're going for, your average hourly rates and notes on any previous experience if you have it.

Thank you amazing creators, we're grateful we have such a talented pool of people to pull from when paid opportunities like this arise.

Until next time, I hope you have some wonderful adventures.

Warmly,

Emily
