Subject: One Week Left to Apply for Our Social Impact Projects

Hi Friend,

Coming to you from our home-offices, we hope you are all finding ways to weather the storm and strengthen your bonds with other humans via the internet.

In today's newsletter we have all the information a non-profit near and dear to you might need to apply for our Social Impact Projects by the end of the week (hopefully with some of you as part of their creative teams!), as well as some self-isolation entertainment ideas, and several resources for how you can support creatives in your favourite creators.

We'll be creating a continually updated blog post with a list of events and links with support ideas, so if you come across anything you feel is valuable please email it to us and we'll add it to the post!

Until we meet again, a very happy May to you all!

It's the Last Week to Get In Your Application for Our Social Impact Project

Do you know a not-for-profit, academic with social research, or other type of social enterprise trying to do good in the world? We would really appreciate it if you could forward this email to them and let them know about the launch of our Story City Social Impact Projects.

Our award-winning platform and team are volunteering 50+hrs of our time and resources to bring their stories and the stories of those they help to life via interactive experiences, providing them with the ability to literally put the public in the shoes of your cause. Whether they help homeless veterans, residents of a region in historic conflict, a countryside newly ravished by fire, or refugees without access to education, if they're looking to help marginalised people and those in need to have their voice heard, we can help.

They can find out more here: https://www.storycity.com.au/work-with-story-city/story-city-social-impact-project/

Applications are open to projects across the world and close May 17th 2020.

At Story City we want to empower local people to tell stories that will change another’s world view, to redefine stories so they’re something you’re a part of, rather than something you’re told. We want to sincerely thank all of you for your support, and thank our Community Mentors who stepped up, without them we couldn't have launched this project normally, let alone during a pandemic.
Dinner Parties - Pandemic Style

To help alleviate the boredom our team gathered via Microsoft Teams on Friday for a TEDx COVID 'event'. The rules of the event went something like this:
  • Everyone must make a PowerPoint presentation with your choice of theme & title.
  • Titles were along the lines of, 'Tornadoes, Can They be Weaponised' or 'Miniature Ponies, What Secrets are They hiding?'
  • We would then pick a name out of the Hat of Destiny and randomly assign that person to a presentation which they had to...
  • Make up on the spot.
It's been a long while since we've laughed so hard. The event even spawned its own, bizarre merchandise. Many thanks to the TEDx RFT team, Kory Mathewson and Julian Faid, for providing the inspiration (and many YouTube videos) for this event.
What are Ways You Can Support Creators Remotely?

Here's a great article by The Guardian that covers Music, Theatre, Art, & Comedy on how you can help struggling artists and take in some great culture.

And another from NPR on supporting all workers in the Music Industry.
