We’ve got some exciting opportunities for creators this month (did someone say $3k prize?) particularly those based in Edmonton and Calgary (yes, again!). For those of you not in those cities, the tl;dr at the end of the newsletter is for you!

Are you a creator in Edmonton or Calgary?

It doesn’t matter if you’re a writer, musician, actor, artist, theatre kid, filmmaker, game developer, or anything in between – this two-day creation and collaboration event is for everyone, from first-timers to professionals!

One lucky team of creators in each city will walk away with a $3,000 grand prize.

Plus, other mini challenge prizes will drop all weekend long, so stay tuned for more details. Oh, and did we mention this event is free to attend? And includes lunch? And snacks? And for those registering for the Edmonton event who have tiny Humans, childcare is provided?

The Edmonton event runs Feb 24/25 2024 with a kick off the evening of Feb 23.

The Calgary event runs March 2/3 2024.

What's a Story City Create-a-Thon?

It's like a hackathon, but for creative souls! Writers, filmmakers, musicians, actors, dancers – everyone's invited to join forces and craft experiences that'll literally transport you throughout [city] as the hero of an adventure.

Turn your city streets into a unique adventure created by YOU. Will you build a story about pirates invading downtown? Perhaps your team will make an adventure where you need to escape the zombie horde? Maybe you want to create a leisurely stroll down the streets of [city] to music from emerging musicians.

Whether you’re thinking about real-life choose-your-adventures, outdoor escape rooms, interactive music pieces, dance tutorials in the park, or anything else that’s rattling around in that creative noggin on yours, if you can dream it, you can create it!

Join us and be a part of something extraordinary. Registrations close on Feb 21st for Edmonton, and Feb 28th for Calgary.

Think of us like the TedX ambassador network, but for the creator community and cities.
