Dear Stock Rover user,

For nearly two years, Stock Rover has been a 100% free tool for investment research. I am pleased to announce that today we launch Stock Rover Premium, our paid subscription service. The paid service enables us to invest more resources in the development of Stock Rover, allowing us to provide you with an ever more capable companion to help you make better investment decisions. Please read on to learn what this means for your account.

Your account will continue to function as a premium account for the next 30 days. During this time you will experience no change in Stock Rover’s behavior. However, if by midnight on February 23, 2014 you have not opted to sign up for a Premium account, your account will be automatically switched to Stock Rover Basic, which will remain forever free, albeit with some advanced capabilities no longer available. Our latest blog post explains all of this in detail and more.

We are currently offering discounted pricing on ALL Premium memberships through February 28, 2014. In addition, if you sign up before January 31, 2014, you are eligible for an extra $19.99 rebate after three months of membership. If you are considering a Premium membership, I strongly encourage you to take advantage of these special discounts, as they are not likely to be repeated in the future. Details are below.

What's different?

Right now, nothing.  Your account will automatically be classified as Premium Trial and you have 30 days to enjoy Stock Rover Premium completely free. After that point, starting on February 24, 2014, if you have not signed up for a Premium account, you will automatically be switched to the Basic membership. The switch might not be obvious at first, because most features will remain free, but some functions will no longer be accessible. 

How much is a Premium Membership?

Without a discount, Premium membership is $19.99/month or $199.99/year, or $24.99/month or $249.99/year if you add email support. Hotline support can be added to Premium memberships for an additional $5/month or $50/year. Where applicable (currently only Massachusetts), state sales tax will be added to the total cost. Basic subscribers can opt in to email support for $5/month or $50/year. 


How about those discounts?

Through February 28, 2014:
  • Premium memberships without support are $15.99/month or $159.99/year (savings of $4/month or $40/year)
  • Premium memberships with email support are $17.99/month or $179.99/year (savings of $7/month or $70/year)
  • Premium memberships with email and hotline support are $21.99/month or $219.99/year (a savings of $8/month or $80/year). 
These discounts are good for one full year after your credit card is first charged. 
Does it matter when I sign up?

Yes. The best deal is through January 31st. The second best deal is available through February 28, 2014. After that, we will revert to standard pricing. You will be billed on the day of the month (or year) when you first signed up. 
How does the rebate work?

If you sign up for a Premium account before January 31, 2014, you are eligible for a $19.99 rebate check, provied you maintain the account (without interrupting service) through May 1, 2014. Checks will be mailed no later than May 15, 2014.  
Any fine print I should know about?

Yes! Please read our terms—it just takes a minute. (Go here for the longer version.) In particular, we want to make sure you are aware of the fact that:
  • We do not offer refunds under any circumstances. 
  • You can cancel the service at any time. 
And if you do cancel, there will be no additional charges to your card. However what you have already paid will not be refunded. You will be entitled to use the services of Stock Rover for which you have contracted until the expiration date of your plan. After expiration, your account will still be available, but only as a Basic (free) account.
