Subject: I was told I had 6 more months to live...

Hi,

Today is a very special day. It is the 15th anniversary of my second life.

On April 7th 2003, I was told that I had a stage 4 skin cancer and 6 more months to live. My youngest son was 8 weeks old at that moment.

Until this day I am not only deeply grateful that I was given a second chance but most of all, I am grateful for the insights this huge challenge gave me.

Many, many times, we take life for granted and focus on the things that are not going as planned, or only focus on what is missing in our lives.

Being confronted so closely with death, I realized that every day could be our last, and I know this sounds like a cliché, but I was only 32 at the time and promised to myself that I would not waste a day in negativity ever again if I survived.

I was determined to leave a beautiful legacy where I was a beneficial presence in the lives of others, and I can say that this journey has been incredibly rewarding.

Following my heart, pursuing my dream of guiding and coaching people has fulfilled me in incredible ways, has made me connect with incredible people and has brought me to incredible places.

And was it easy? No, it wasn't. Many people in my surroundings did not understand, but the desire to inspire, to support and guide was much stronger than the fear and doubt of others.

You are a unceasing source of joy in my life, your replies, your kinds words, always fill me with gratitude.

So today I would like to ask you, what legacy would you like to leave behind?  How do you honor the gift of life?

As always, loving you,
Barbara.
