While we are still in the midst of the spring/summer gardening season, it's also time to begin strategizing (and even planting) for some fall crops. Very soon we'll be able to plant crops like kale, spinach, broccoli, carrots, and so much more.
To make sure you have everything you need to finish out the summer season and to prepare for the next wave of vegetables in your center, we are hosting a short webinar Thursday July 20th from 1:00-2:00pm. The webinar is called "Fall Gardening with Kids" and will count as WV Stars Credit. :)
In this webinar we will cover:
- What crops are best to grow in the fall and how to use the Healthy Kids Inc./Start A Garden technology to create your center's garden plan.
- How to prepare your garden bed or containers for this next growing season.
- Exactly when to start planting for your fall crops (i.e. broccoli could be planted as early as next week- yikes! :)
- What to watch out for when growing in the fall (bugs and growing temps are slightly different in the fall than in the spring).
- Ideal lessons for the children around fall crops.
- ...and any questions related to your childcare center's garden.
