Hello to our garden friends.
April is here and that means it’s time to talk seeds.
By this point, you probably know which vegetables you want to plant and when you can start moving your plants outdoors (aka…your freeze/frost date).
Most root vegetables like turnips, parsnips, and carrots do best when planted outdoors in their permanent garden location. But other seeds such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, tomato, pepper, and leaf lettuce do well when started indoors first.
Starting seeds indoors is very easy and only requires a few supplies.
We generally use coffee filters to pre-germinate our seeds and then seed starter flats to grow our seedlings. This process will take anywhere from 1-2 weeks depending on your plant type. Everything you need to start your seeds can be found in this video, including how to water your seeds as they grow. Click below to watch. |
