As CEO of Staf, Scotland’s membership organisation for all those involved in the lives of young people leaving care, I am getting in touch to invite you, as a Councillor and Corporate Parent, to our 2021 Staf Summit – From Promise to Action on 17 March 2021.

The Independent Care Review challenged us all to be a good parent to young people in and leaving care – this event will support your local authority to meet that challenge.
As an event for senior leaders and organisations with responsibility for Corporate Parenting, it will support you to play your part in keeping the Promise.
We will bring together experts, best practice examples and the voice of young people with care experience to support organisations to be a good Corporate Parent and to keep the Promise. In particular, we’ll focus on transitions, with the Promise proposing thematic reviews on the topic.
Throughout the day our speakers will underline the importance of relationships, trauma-informed care and practice, listening to young people and fulfilling children’s rights.
On the day, we will have another impressive line-up of speakers in which we hope to include:
- A representative of The Promise
- Academic experts on how to improve the experience of care
- A representative of the Scottish Government
- Young people with experience of care
- Best practice examples from Corporate Parents
