Medicine Wheel Teachings:
This ancient symbol, used by most First Nations people, teaches us that all things in life are equal and balanced.

Each month you will discover the relationship of one direction to the Seven Grandfather Teachings, a sacred animal, element, plant medicine and more. Discover how these teachings can be used personally and professionally.

The directions include East, South, West, and North as well as Sky, Earth, and the Centre.

We will begin with the Centre and the teachings of love. It represents the centre of the circle that connects us to all nations, communities, and people. The centre also represents self (inner fire).

Love
Love is represented by the Eagle and its unique relationship it has with the Creator. The Eagle has the ability to see the furthest, fly the highest and be closest to the Creator. Eagles are loving and protective and it is their responsibility to watch over the earth and communicate with the Creator all that is happening. Love is an essential part of our being; without it nothing can grow or thrive. When we treat ourselves with love, unconditional love of all other beings becomes a natural occurrence.

Courage

Courage is to face the foe with integrity.
Humility
