| “The Domaine’s origins lie with the Nié-Vantey family who had considerable holdings in both Côtes in the 19th century. The holdings passed from Georges Lochardet (early 20th century) to his son Armand, thence to the latter’s daughter Brigitte, who married Christian Heitz, and now to Armand Heitz, who, after study in Beaune and at Changins in Switzerland, has been taking back control of his branch of the family’s vineyards in various slices since 2011. Other branches of the original inheritance can be found at Domaines Vincent Dancer and Ballot-Millot ....
At the moment, for reasons of lack of space, everything is racked out of barrel in early summer and bottled before the new harvest, though this may change as space permits. The whites are picked in small cases, whole bunch pressed, left to settle for 24 hours, then the fermentation begins in tank before continuing in barrel, typically low toasted examples from Vicard and Chassin, with a maximum of 30% new wood. Closure is under DIAM since 2016. The reds were initially 100% whole bunch fermented ... and Armand has cut back for certain cuvées, such as his Pommard Clos des Poutures, from 2018." This is aromatically quite similar to the Perrières with its nose of matchstick, mineral reduction and markedly floral scents that are trimmed in just enough wood to remark upon. The wonderfully refined and intense medium weight flavors possess only average density though the bone-dry, firm, youthfully austere and stony finish displays superb length. Note well that at least some patience will be necessary as this is presently very tightly wound."

"From a 0.43ha parcel in Rugiens-Hauts. Cooler though still notably ripe aromas features those of essence of red currant and a plethora of very pretty floral and spice wisps. The rich and equally attractively textured medium-bodied flavors that exude plenty of minerality on the dusty, even chalky, but not really austere finish that goes on and on. This well-balanced effort should reward up to a decade of cellaring and is also one to consider. Outstanding"

"From a 0.37ha parcel. Equally ripe if perhaps slightly more elegant aromas are comprised by notes of poached plum, dark cherry and a beautiful array of interwoven spice and floral scents. The very rich, even opulent medium weight plus flora possess a caressing mouthfeel if not quite the usual delineation and minerality that this wine typically displays on the youthfully austere and moderately firm finale."
